Awakening

Awakening, whether the arrival of spring, a coming of age, or rising from sleep, comes as a subtle sequence of events. In this work, each of the sixteen string players has a different part, with entrances and gestures staggered, "awakening" the orchestra bit by bit. At last the entire body of strings moves together, able to move as one unit for a time before it at last returns to sleep.
